“I am a happy missionary priest and I am glad to have the opportunity to minister to the people of God every day.” “At some point in time, I thought the number of people present at Mass was more important, I was quite surprised to witness in this new parish that just about 10 – 15 people came for morning Mass which was incomparable to the previous parish I worked in,” he exclaimed, adding that, “it is the savoir-faire I had in Niger when I went to help out the SMA confreres during the break that changed my notion of numbers positively.”

Some were very positive while others were reserved: "You are courageous to go back after 19 years of break with the African climate." When the SMA General Council asked me for this service, I had first said 'no'. It is important and exciting to accompany young people who will become missionaries at the footsteps of venerable bishop Melchior de Marion Brésillac. Living in the company of young people is just as important.

Today, twelve years ago, I was ordained a priest and emotions are still fresh in my mind. It was the most important day of my life. I looked around my family and friends gathered for the occasion and some of them gave me an impression they were happier than me and wondered if this could be possible because, in my head and mind, it was my day and not theirs. I was wrong in my mind. After my ordination, I realized that it is other people who make us happy in ministry. It is first and foremost God, our family members, and the communities we serve.
