The preparations to celebrate the 100th Jubilee Year of the Foundation of our Institute of the Missionary Catechists of the Sacred Heart in 2022, especially in Europe, were disrupted first by the health crisis related to covid-19. Successive lockdowns and uncertainty during the two years of the pandemic have forced us to a minimum program. Our 100th Anniversary Feast is also somewhat overshadowed by the preparation of the MCS-C General Chapter of June-July 2022. To be a missionary is a beautiful task to proclaim the gospel and to learn the culture. Mass media are being used widely, in a broad assortment of ways, by those engaged in mission work today. The following list, although not exhaustive, will illustrate the major approaches. Many mass media programs may be designed to instill awareness and impart introductory information about the church and the mission effort. Whatever we do here, it is going to reach people in two principal ways: through liturgy and through the media. The gospel itself is the hope of salvation, one cannot really separate the message from the messenger.

The sun was favorable at the event on this Easter Monday in the Cartières. The chapel decorated with spring flowers brought together the members of the Lay Missionary Fraternity, the sisters of the house and the Sma confreres. They were all there to surround David Roberts who renewed his commitment for 3 years in the Lay Missionary Fraternity. David works in Africa as a linguistics and literacy consultant in collaboration with SIL International. He is currently in Togo, in Kara but he is called more and more in other countries,

On Easter Monday, in tandem with Holy Trinity Parish in Kitwe, a new SMA Center was opened in Kitwe Zambia by Bishop Benjamin Phiri, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ndola. Present, were some SMA Fathers, including the Zambian SMA District Superior Fr. Ignatius Malwa, Fr. William Sinkala, Fr. Yashim Abel, Fr. Andrew Faisal, and Fr. Mathias Chungu, members of the community from Holy Trinity parish as well as representatives of St. Kieran who traveled from Ireland for the occasion. The Center was constructed by Fr. Patrick J. Gormley, SMA, who is a missionary in Zambia for many years.

As the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues, an outpouring of support for Ukrainians has been witnessed across much of Europe, Australia, and the West in general. A support much different from the ones other countries in such situation have received. Thus putting in evidence the double standard of the West.
