Pope Francis appointed on October 9, the Archbishop of Bangui in Central African Republic as the new cardinal of that country. The Central African Republic has experienced serious clashes between two rival groups that killed thousands. Msgr Dieudonné Nzapalainga, 49, will be the youngest African cardinal during his inauguration in November in Rome. SMA is present in the country and welcomed the appointment. God bless this young Cardinal and his country.
The African Church is preparing itself for an important event in its history, which is the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of SECAM, to be held in 2019 in Uganda. Indeed, SECAM (Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar) was created in 1969 in Uganda. It is by essence an institution of organic pastoral solidarity.
