From 25 to 29 January 2010 held, at Natitingou St Pierre Minor Seminary, the 41st convention of Benin clergy. The theme of this meeting was "Towards the 150th anniversary of evangelization in Benin. The life and mission of Beninese priests."

300 Beninese priests from all dioceses participated in the meeting punctuated by moments of prayer, fraternal sharing and conferences. Father Julien Zossou traced, the first day, the life of Bishop Moses Durand (d. 1982), ancestor of the Beninese clergy and tireless missionary. The second day, Archbishop Michael August Blume, Apostolic Nuncio to Togo and Benin, urged Beninese priests to build the kingdom of God. The materials it needs for the establishment of this reign, are the materials of unity, harmony, solidarity and pastoral charity.

Benin, which covers an area of 112,620 square kilometers, currently has 10 dioceses. 20% of its population estimated at more than 8 million inhabitants are Christians. Evangelism has been the work of the Fathers of the Society of African Missions (SMA). Indeed, April 18, 1861, two missionaries, fathers Borghero Francesco (1830-1892) and Francisco Fernandez 1835-1863), landed on the beach of Ouidah. This date is considered as the foundation of the Church in Dahomey-Benin. Currently, 36 priests and 4 lay SMA missionaries work in 6 dioceses: Cotonou, N'Dali, Kandi, Natitingou, Djougou and Parakou. The SMA has a formation house in Calavy, International Spiritual Year, Bresillac Center.
